We last increased the price of our Silk business cards in January of 2006. Guess how much gas was then - how about $2.25 a gallon. Oh, the good old days. Today, the average national gas price is over $4.00 a gallon. That’s nearly an 80% increase. With the rising cost of fuel, our costs have gone up as well, for everything from the paper we print on to the boxes we ship in to the UPS service who brings your cards to you. So while no one ever likes to raise prices, it was time. Effective July 1, 2008, all Silk business card orders will be $90.

But instead of just raising prices and calling it a day, we decided to add value to help justify the increase. Now with all business card orders, you get free ground shipping and the free back-side printing option is now full-color vs. just black ink. We have also gone to a single price structure, so everyone can buy our Silk business cards for the same low price.

At Dayspring Printing, we recognize that you can buy your business cards anywhere, and with the explosion of printers on the Internet, we know you can buy them for less. We also know that in business, your business card goes a long ways towards making a good first impression. And with business cards, like so much in life, you get what you pay for.

Thanks for your past business, and we look forward to continuing to serve all of your printing needs.

The elements of graphic design are used, and often combined, to create graphic works. They should not be confused with principles of design, such as balance and white space, but rather components such as color, type and images.

Printing is complex. To the average person, that is probably a foreign concept. You simply hit Ctrl-P on your keyboard and your document prints. Simple, right? Unfortunately, the answer is no.

The purpose of this blog is to educate folks about the realities of printing. We will try to do so in a way that is both entertaining and informative. We realize that computers have given you the power to create whatever you want, we just want to help you understand what we require in order to deliver to you the finished product you expect. We will be honest (brutally so, if necassary), and will always try to have fun while doing so. We just want you to happy with the final print job you receive, whether it comes from us or another printer.

It’s been almost 6 months since setting up this blog, and I’ve just figured out how to really work it. It’s amazing how easy something appears to be at the start, but once you get going with it, how it’s not. The “support” that purports to be there to help makes assumptions about who you are and what you know, and if you don’t meet some basic criteria, they won’t stoop to your level to help. So to all of them, I say - thanks, but no thanks. I’ll figure it out on my own! I guess it just goes to one of the great lessons I’ve learned in this life: Anything worth doing is worth figuring out on your own, or something like that . . .
